Fatal workplace accident under investigation

On Behalf of | Oct 15, 2019 | Types Of Work-Related Injuries |

For the many different workers in California and across the country, reporting to a work shift is likely just another part of their routine. Most every one reports to work expecting that will return to their home and family generally in the same condition in which they left. Unfortunately, that is not always the case if a worker is involved in a workplace accident.

In fact, a fatal incident in another state is currently under investigation. Though the victim’s identity was not released in the immediate aftermath of the accident, reports indicate that the accident involved a 37-year-old man. The worker was reportedly working on an asphalt milling machine in the bay of a garage.

Unfortunately, reports indicate that a steamroller that another employee was working on struck the victim. He was transported to the hospital where he ultimately passed away as a result of injuries suffered in the accident. Police say that they do not suspect foul play.

As is the case with most fatal incidents such as this, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration is conducting an investigation. In the meantime, the man’s family must now come to terms with the unexpected loss of their loved one as a result of the workplace accident. Because many families in California are unprepared for such a loss, employers are required to provide workers’ compensation insurance benefits that can help with a variety of different costs associated with an incident such as this, including funeral expenses if a fatality is involved. Dealing with an insurance company can sometimes be complicated under the best conditions and could be especially challenging for those also coping with such a loss. Fortunately, there are experienced professionals who can help.
