The vast majority of workers in California and across the country go to great lengths to protect their own personal safety as well as the safety of their co-workers. Unfortunately, even the safest of workers can find themselves the victim of a workplace accident. In fact, a man in another state was reportedly seriously injured in a recent accident.
The incident is said to have happened during the evening hours of a day in December. According to reports, the man was working at Blandin Paper Company. Reports indicate that at the time of the accident, he was operating a crane, working to unload pulp wood.
Unfortunately, he was reportedly ejected from his seat and suffered serious head injuries. Rescue workers provided support at the scene before he was transported to the hospital by helicopter. He is said to have undergone multiple surgeries since the accident; his current medical status is unclear.
A workplace accident that results in severe injuries — especially head injuries — often have lifelong consequences. Even when victims fully recover, they often face financial uncertainty as a result of medical expenses and lost wages. Fortunately, employers in California and across the country are required to provide workers’ compensation insurance benefits that can help with a variety of different costs associated with being injured on the job. Because people in California who are recovering from such injuries may feel unprepared to negotiate with the insurance company, they often seek help from an attorney who has experience with the compensation process.
