Fatal industrial accident involved dump truck

There are a variety of different hazards in a typical workplace in California, especially for those who work with heavy equipment. Even workers who practice all recommended workplace health and safety standards can fall victim to a work-related accident. Unfortunately, a man in another state recently lost his life in an industrial accident, reportedly involving a dump truck.

Police and paramedics were reportedly called to the scene around 6 p.m. on a day in late December. According to reports, a 64-year-old man was attempting to repair the dump truck at the time the accident occurred. Upon arrival, first responders discovered a man trapped between the frame and bed of the truck.

Rescue workers used equipment to lift the bed off the man. Unfortunately, he passed away as a result of injuries suffered in the accident. It is unclear who had employed the victim. The family of the man may now be facing financial repercussions related to funeral expenses and lost wages in addition to the emotional consequences of an unexpected loss.

An industrial accident can happen at any moment, sometimes while a victim is completing a relatively mundane task. Unfortunately, this can have devastating consequences. Because of the former, employers are required to provide workers’ compensation insurance benefits to help with the expenses associated with such an event. Many people in California who are recovering — either physically or emotionally — following such an incident may feel unprepared to negotiate with an insurance company, prompting they ask for assistance from an experienced attorney; such a professional can guide them through the compensation process, helping them seek a fair agreement.
