Fatal industrial accident under investigation

On Behalf of | Sep 23, 2019 | Workers' Compensation |

While there is a risk of suffering a workplace injury regardless of what type of job a person in California has, those who work with heavy machinery may face additional risks of injury when compared to other occupations. In fact, a man in another state was recently killed in an industrial accident involving heavy machinery. Reports indicate that the investigation into the incident is ongoing.

The accident reportedly happened before 6:30 a.m. on a day in September. According to reports, workers at R&R Contracting arrived at work and discovered an unresponsive man. While reports regarding the incident leave many details unclear, it reportedly involved a forklift.

The man, unfortunately, died at the scene. Both the medical examiner’s office and the local police department were on the scene in the aftermath to investigate what caused the fatality. Fatal workplace accidents are also investigated by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration.

Unfortunately, a family is now left to cope with the unexpected death of their family. If the man’s death was as a result of an industrial accident as reports indicate, his surviving family members may be entitled to workers’ compensation insurance coverage that employers in California and across the country are required to provide. These benefits can help victims of work-related injuries with medical expenses and lost wages; if the accident proves fatal, they can also extend to certain family members. Because the process can seem complicated for families who are also grieving, many choose to seek help from an experienced attorney as they seek a fair settlement.
