Workplace accident results in fatality

Every occupation holds some degree of danger to employees, but the exact type of risks these workers face depends upon the specific job site and individual job responsibilities. Unfortunately, even the safest workers in California and across the country cannot always prevent a workplace accident from occurring. In fact, reports indicate that a worker in another state recently lost his life in a work-related explosion.

The incident happened during the morning hours of a day in March. According to reports, the 33-year-old man was an employee of HyPerComp Engineering, a company that makes pressure vessels such as oxygen tanks. Investigators believe that the man was transferring oxygen from one tank to another when an explosion occurred; the man, who died as a result of injuries suffered in the collision, was the only person inside the building at the time.

It is believed that while making the oxygen transfer, one of the canisters ruptured, causing ruptures in several others. A representative for the company states that there are procedures in place for performing such actions. Those procedures, according to the spokesperson, were being followed at the time of the explosion.

Reports indicate that the man leaves behind a wife and three children. While the community is rallying behind the family and helping them financially, the financial consequences of a workplace accident can quickly become overwhelming. Though the man's surviving family members may be entitled to workers' compensation insurance benefits, they may be unsure how to negotiate for a fair settlement. As such, many people in California who have found themselves in a similar situation choose to ask an attorney with experience with the compensation process to help guide them throughout the process.
