Man dies following work-related accident involving branch

While many people in California can readily list several occupations that may be risky, there are multiple others that are overlooked. For example, workers who are required to cut trees are often at great risk of injury while they use heavy, potentially dangerous machinery at great heights. Unfortunately, such a worker in another state recently lost his life in a work-related accident.

The incident happened during the morning hours of a day in late August. According to reports, the victim was a 59-year-old man whose identity was not released in the immediate aftermath of the incident. Reports indicate that the man was in a boom lift bucket cutting the branch of a tree at the time the accident happened.

Unfortunately, a branch reportedly snapped and struck the bucket, causing the man to fall around 40 feet. The man was transported to the hospital, but he died as a result of his injuries. An autopsy was scheduled to be performed.

Often, even the safest of workers in California and across the county can find themselves involved in a work-related accident. These accidents can easily create financial hardship for victims, including surviving family members, as a result of medical bills, lost wages and funeral expenses. Because these accidents can occur no matter what safety precautions are in place, employers are required to provide workers' compensation insurance benefits that can help with many of the costs associated with such an accident. Despite having this safety net in place, many people are unsure how to negotiate with the insurance company or what amount is appropriate compensation for their specific case. Fortunately, there are experienced professionals who can help guide the process.
